The Three Sisters Bar and Hotel

It is 1911 and the coming of the railroad to the Bow Valley has brought a galaxy of newcomers- coal miners, runaway aristocrats, artists, remittance men, and Quakers. Among them is Herbie Wishart, a former poacher quick to reinvent himself as a trail guide. While leading a fossil-hunting expedition run by prominent the American scientist Hodgson, Herbie becomes fascinated by his daughter Isabel. When the Hodgson expedition is lost, utterly, without a trace, it is devastating not only to Herbie's reputation as a guide, but secretly, to his heart. Isabel's orphaned younger sister Gwen arrives in Gateway in the wake of this disaster and makes it her home. The family's love for the Rocky Mountains in all their beauty and ferocity keep them returning to the scene.
